So, Neal and I went to a personal and professional development meeting last week that his residency program holds once a month at nice restaurants. To be honest we usually just go for the free food and wine. But, this week was a great presentation about med school debt. Something that is on our minds from time to time.....maybe more like....all the time! They talked about changes that are coming to med school loans but most importantly they addressed "is it worth it."
At times, I know that Neal feels like he could be working and getting ahead in another field straight from undergrad...but according to the presentation that about by age 40 for people that have gone through med school and residency, it DOES become worth it. It is by that time that we will be able to catch up with others savings, retirement planning, etc....which even though it seems far away helps us get through all the overnight calls, working holidays, 80+ work weeks now!
So, here is to our 40's!
